  • (WASHTA, IA) A young man from Washta, Iowa, has made it his mission to make sure kids in Siouxland have warm coats all winter long.
  • Dynamic, determined, and driven: those are three words used by a couple of people to describe Jeff Anderson. All three are great compliments to anyone, especially a young man still in the 6th grade. Though he is busy being a student right now, he is also a teacher, and a KMEG 14 Hometown Hero.

  • (STANTON, NE) Police officers, deputies, and sheriffs have made a pledge to protect and serve, but some do a whole lot more than that.
  • (MARCUS, IA) Life-long Boy Scout Sawyer Heidesch never thought going for a walk could make him a hero.
  • Operation Mighty Mo 2011 has forever changed Siouxland history, and in some case the landscape of our communities. But there's one thing floodwater never threatened: the spirit of hundreds, if not thousands, of Hometown Heroes.
  • (SIOUX CITY, IA) In Anthony Gaul's science class, laughter and learning go hand in hand.
  • (NORFOLK, NE) He's the first to admit he's more comfortable in a support role than a spotlight, but this Hometown Hero has helped countless people working and volunteering in Norfolk and the surrounding communities of northeast Nebraska.
  • (PENDER, NE) We've all had them, but they're not all the same: teachers. Some we'll never remember, others we'll never forget.
  • (SIOUX CITY, IA) He weighs about a thousand pounds, is as smooth as butter, and as gentle as a butterfly. Like many famous folks, he goes by one name. His name is Crescendo and he's KMEG 14's third Hometown Hero.
  • (SMITHLAND, IA) Taking inspiration from her adopted cat, this young Hometown Hero set out to save animals at the Siouxland Humane Society.
  • (SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE) When joy turned to concern after the birth of a friend's baby, this Hometown Hero stepped in to save a young life.
