Obama Outlines Job Plan During Iowa Stop

Posted:
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA -

From Capitol Hill to the Hawkeye State, less than 24 hours after the State of the Union address President Obama's first stop was in Iowa.

His message in Cedar Rapids Wednesday: plans for rebuilding our economy.

President Obama will be traveling the country for the next two days promoting his economic plan.

He used a Cedar Rapids manufacturing plant Wednesday as an example of how he wants to bring jobs back to the US.

President Obama made a stop in Cedar Rapids Wednesday, taking the economic plan he laid out in his "State of the Union" address on the road.

"It's an economy built on American manufacturing with more good jobs and more products, made right here in the United States of America," says Obama.

The President toured the Conveyor Engineering and Manufacturing Company, a business he says is a good example of what's to come with his plans for homegrown energy.

"This company right here, some of its key customers are folks who are active in alternative energy," says Obama. "There are jobs to be had and Iowa knows all about it when we are pursuing aggressively clean energy and alternative energy."

It's all part of the jobs agenda the President outlined Tuesday; Knowing his re-election campaign could depend on getting Americans back to work.

"We lost four million jobs before I took office, another four million in the few months right after I took office before our economic policies had a chance to take affect, and we've been growing and increasing jobs ever since, three million over the last 22 months," says Obama.

After leaving Cedar Rapids, the President's making stops in Nevada and Arizona to promote that economic plan.
